COABE issued this press release in response to the introduction of S. 5202, the Adult Education WORKS Act.
COABE is excited to announce its endorsement of the bipartisan Adult Education WORKS Act (S. 5202), which was recently introduced by Senators Jack Reed (D-RI) and Todd Young (R-IN). The bill was developed with COABE’s input and includes several of COABE’s Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) recommendations, such as creating an innovative pilot performance accountability system, supporting the professionalization of educators and ensuring that adult education providers are given a seat at the table in creating workforce development policy by being included on State and local workforce boards. This is a huge win for the adult education field, as this text will be referred to when Congress moves forward on WIOA reauthorization.
