COABE is proud to share that we have selected as Google’s Top Performing Partner for 2024.

COABE members have had access to numerous opportunities since 2019 including Google’s free digital literacy program, Applied Digital Skills, which provides real world training for use of tools and applications on computers, tablets, and mobile devices.

Valued at just under $150,000 COABE was awarded 500 Google Google Career Certificate scholarships for distribution in 2023 to the field of adult education.  This initiative reflects an increase from 200 Google Google Career Certificate in 2022 scholarships that were awarded last year as a result of our multiyear partnership with Google.  Google Career Certificate help adult learners to gain the skills necessary for high demand jobs with a median wage of $76,000 per year. COABE is also providing a mentor to provide guidance and support for adult education learners.

Our goal is to help as many adult learners and teachers as possible access and complete the certificate(s) of choice at their own pace. We are providing a learning community of practice and have hired a mentor/instructor to lead this effort.

This scholarship will contribute to furthering my adult education in the field of nursing. I started taking Certified Nurse Assistance classes in the Continuing Education program of San Diego (adult education).  I am currently taking a vocational nursing program in the Grossmont Health Occupations Center in Santee, CA. I am very thankful for being selected and express my complete gratitude. I look forward to serving my community as a student nurse and as a licensed vocational nurse in June of 2023. – Diana Arenas, California
