COABE members have been able to take advantage of numerous opportunities since 2019 including Google’s free digital literacy program, Applied Digital Skills, which provides real world training for use of tools and applications on computers, tablets, and mobile devices.

COABE also partnered with Google to provide 200 scholarships to adult learners for Google Career Certificates. The certificates can lead to jobs in high growth fields that provide competitive pay.

Now, we are pleased to share that Coalition on Adult Basic Education (COABE) has been awarded 500 Google Career Certificates for the field of adult education (About Certificates).
Our goal is to help as many adult learners and teachers as possible access and complete the certificate(s) of choice at their own pace. We will provide a learning community of practice and will be hiring a mentor/instructor to lead this effort.

Review the mentor/instructor job description and apply by 9/15/23  to be the cohort leader!

This scholarship will contribute to furthering my adult education in the field of nursing. I started taking Certified Nurse Assistance classes in the Continuing Education program of San Diego (adult education).  I am currently taking a vocational nursing program in the Grossmont Health Occupations Center in Santee, CA. I am very thankful for being selected and express my complete gratitude. I look forward to serving my community as a student nurse and as a licensed vocational nurse in June of 2023. – Diana Arenas, California
