Region 4 (2022-2025) Awards/Scholarships/Incentive Grants Chair

Dr. Adrienne K. Fontenot is the director of Adult Learning and Educational Programs at Louisiana Community and Technical College System. Adrienne’s passion for adult education started in 1998 when, as a student worker, she tutored adult learners who needed help with developmental education courses. Since then, she has been fortunate to work in the field that she studied, holding positions ranging from ELL instructor to GED test administrator and now a director at the state office.

Over the past 16 years in state adult education, Adrienne has worked on projects ranging from high school equivalency testing and distance learning to national initiatives in content standards and career pathways. Her research interests include best practices for instruction and program administration, along with accessibility and acceleration for students. Adrienne provides technical assistance to 22 adult education programs and works with approximately 400 adult education instructors who teach at nearly 200 sites across the state and is responsible for designing and managing the online onboarding course for all adult education faculty and staff with a specific focus on Louisiana’s WorkReady U (WRU) program.

Current state projects include the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) Credit for Prior Learning/Experience Matrix, WRU Lesson Plan Vault, and LCTCS Curriculum Library. Additionally, Adrienne is involved in several national initiatives including Adult Numeracy Instruction 2.0 and Teaching Skills That Matter. In her role as director of Adult Learning and Educational Programs, she works closely with all twelve institutions on curriculum, partnerships, and policies to expand opportunities for our adult learners.
